You can put a cute little bandana on your dog and spray it with some rosemary, cedarwood oil or peppermint oil which acts as an essential oil flea collar. You can also set up a flea trap, using a light and a bowl of water. If you attempt this, be sure to keep it away from your Dog.
Home Remedies To Get Rid Of Fleas
1800Remedies gives some great remedies here, most of them completely natural. You can make up your own concoction, or use a natural store-bought remedy. Just always be sure to check that the ingredients you're using are safe for your pet and home. Here are some more common treatments.
- Apple Cider Vinegar Apple cider vinegar is a great way to keep fleas from pestering your pet. It won't kill them off, but they hate the smell so it keeps them away, making it a great preventative measure. You can also use it to give your pet some instant relief if they have a lot of fleas on them. Just mix equal parts of apple cider vinegar and water in a spray bottle, then spray it on your pet, avoiding their eyes, ears, and nose.
- Liquid Dish Soap Using liquid dish soap will help to kill fleas when you bathe your pet in it or use it around the home. For your pet, replace their regular shampoo with liquid dish soap in a warm bath. Let your pet soak for about 10 minutes, then rinse them off in a clean tub – the fleas will fall right off! Repeat this process every day for 1-2 weeks.
For your home, fill some shallow containers or bins with hot water and enough dish soap to make sudsy water. Place the bowls all around your home in each room, along with a table light shining on it. The fleas will be attracted to the warmth and jump in the water. They will not be able to escape after that since the dish soap creates a sort of barrier that keeps them in.
